Now imagine your life in this tiny, one-room house, built on a rock in the middle of the Drina River in the Balkans near the town of Bajina Basta, Serbia. This house was constructed in 1969 by a group of swimmers and since then has become quite the tourist attraction for the small town. The swimmers were looking for a place to rest and sunbathe and found this rock in the middle of the river. They came up with the idea to make it a bit more comfortable and build an actual house on it. The idea to create this tiny home came to the boys in 1968, and took a full year for them to construct. They transported most of the material by boat and kayak, and some of the other larger parts needed for construction were placed in the river further upstream and they would meet it by the rock to catch it. They boys knew what they were doing and did an excellence job because the tiny house has not only stood the test of time, but has weathered the unpredictable Serbian weather which includes multiple storms and floods over the years (check out the youtube video of a flood back in 2010).
